I really like these storage cases. Before I bought this one, I spent quite a bit of time searching Amazon for cases and reading all the reviews. It seems that so many of them either break easy or else they let the small items such as beads shift between compartments. I say, what's the point of having a case that does that.
This case has a radius on the bottom of the dividers that perfectly matches the radius on the bottom sides of each compartment thereby forming a complete seal. It also has a channel molded into the lid for each and every divider slot so that the top of the dividers goes inside the channel thereby forming a complete seal on the top, too. If you plan to use it for crafting and have small beads, they will not jump over into the next compartment. I did not see that on other cases that I looked at. Good engineering.
I bought the medium size. I found that it was a better price and a good working size for me. I am using mine for storing my presser feet for my sewing machine. The compartments are large enough that you can also put your presser feet instructions, notes and descriptions in the same compartment. Actually, you could put several presser feet in the same compartment if you had a large enough collection and wanted to do that.
Another thing that his one has over others is that it has a true hinge. So many of the plastic cases and boxes that are available these days do not have true hinges. Instead, they have a plastic continuation that molds the top to the bottom forming a single piece. Eventually that plastic area will fatigue and break on you, leaving you with a useless case that opens up on the opposite end. Money down the drain. If you watch my video, you can see daylight at the hinge since it is a true hinge. Good engineering again.
There is also a hanging tab on one end that folds over flat. Since it folds, it will eventually create a weak point and give way – much like what the one piece plastic molded (lid to bottom) pieces do that I explained above. Presumably, though, it will not begin to get nearly as much activity to bring it to its breaking point during normal use. I don't use the hook. It is not flush with the edge of the container so you are going to need something long and protruding to hook it on. Think display hooks in a store type of a hook (which is probably really what it was designed for). The last two photos show the hook both from the side and straight on.
I have tried to show you the snap clasps, hinges, and the dividers and how they seat in the attached photos. Hopefully you can make sense of the pictures.
