Maryland Iron Festival

Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that the Maryland Iron Festival is happening at Catoctin Furnace on May 20-21, 2023. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate Frederick County’s history as an early center for iron making. The festival, hosted by the Catoctin Furnace Historical Society, offers a range of activities including blacksmithing demonstrations, live music, vendors, food trucks, and even a maker’s market. There will also be guided garden and trail tours, an art show, archeology presentations, and a live iron pour. Best of all, admission to the festival is absolutely free! So mark your calendar and come join the fun at the Maryland Iron Festival. Don’t forget to check out the event schedule and plan your visit accordingly. Parking Information

Festival goers must park at the Manor Area of Cunningham Falls State Park. The address is the same as the festival location—6709 Cunningham Falls Park Road, Thurmont, MD 21788. Park rangers will be available to direct visitors to the parking lots. Additionally, there will be a festival shuttle service available from the Manor Area parking lot. This convenient transportation option will begin at 9:30AM each day and end at 7:30PM on Saturday, and at 4:30PM on Sunday.
