If you're looking for more rural terrain, West Virginia and Leesburg, Virginia are only 20-30 minutes away. Just north of Frederick is Thurmont, Emmittsburg and Gettysburg PA and plenty of nature along the way. Be careful though and don't get lulled by the sweet scents of smoky and delicious Chubby's Barbeque unless it's your "Cheat Day."
